Resolution of the 2017 Training Apprenticeship with Manuel Navarrete

In this first edition of the Premios Richard H. Driehaus de las Artes de la Construcción, the jury determined that it was Manuel Navarrete Moreno who received the apprenticeship for the training of an apprentice who could learn and continue his trade.

The coordination team of the Richard H. Driehaus Building Artes Awards, with the guidance and advice of master Manuel Navarrete, has studied each of the 18 applications submitted for the award of the training grant. It was a complicated election, in which each and every candidate submitted reflected a great commitment to the objectives of this initiative.

Finally, the apprenticeship of training in the traditional craft of carpenter-cabinetmaker has been awarded to Jorge Calvo Varona, from Burgos.

The objective of these Awards is to recover the crafts of the building arts as they are responsible for the conservation of our heritage and fundamental for new traditional constructions. To promote the continuity of the work of craftspeople and transmit it to the new generations, the Richard H. Driehaus Charitable Lead Trust grants financial support of 10,000€ for a year to Manuel, and the apprentice will receive €8,000 during his training, provided that the agreed results are achieved.
