Publications of Masters
In this set of documents in digital format, the different building crafts, associated to the different materials of traditional architecture – from its very extraction to its placing on site – have been gathered together. These publications were made within the framework of the National Network of Traditional Building Masters project, organized by INTBAU with the collaboration of the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain (IPCE) and the Rafael Manzano Prize. It is a national directory of best practices in the fields of traditional construction and restoration. It intends to gather all individuals and companies developing an outstanding work in the various traditional building crafts, looking for those who excel in each region at preserving and maintaining them.
This publication showcases the rich heritage, both material and immaterial, of Ksar Ouled Youssef, in the M’Hamid Oasis, in the hope to generate wider awareness of its cultural significance and struggle to survive desertification, sand dunes encroachment and outmigration. It was published by Terrachidia and ArCHIAM Centre thanks to the financial support of Barakat and the University of Liverpool and the collaboration of INTBAU Spain.
This publication, by the Fundação Serra Henriques, presents the results of the Marvão Traditional Architecture Summer School, which was organized by INTBAU and by the Rafael Manzano Prize for New Traditional Architecture. It was possible thanks to the collaboration of the Fundação Serra Henriques and Kalam. Equally important was the collaboration of the Câmara Municipal de Marvão, the Junta de Freguesia de Beirã, the A Anta Association, also from Beirã, and the Infrastructures of Portugal, as well as the Escola Superior Gallaecia, the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL), the Universidade do Algarve and the Universidade de Évora (Portugal), the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas (Philippines), the Schools of Architecture of the Judson University, the University of Miami and the University of Notre Dame (USA), the Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio, the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) and the Centro de Investigación de Arquitectura Tradicional (CIAT-UPM).
