The new edition of the Iberian Summer School, organized by the Traditional Building Cultures Foundation with the collaboration of INTBAU Spain and INTBAU Portugal, will take place in Arcos de Valdevez, in the north of Portugal. During two weeks, the traditional urbanism, architecture, and building details of the region will be studied in order to work on a design proposal for the area.

Several visits and demonstrations with master craftspeople will also be organized, and several experts in traditional architecture and landscape will deliver lectures each day. Hand drawing and measuring buildings will be the main activity to be developed during these two intense weeks.

The deadline for registration and submission of applications is March 24, 2024.

– Basic information –

The language to be used during the activities will be mainly English, so at least a basic knowledge of this language is recommended.

Places are limited to 28 and a selection process will be carried out among all candidates. Several places will be reserved for students from each participating university.

The registration fee is 410 euros. This fee includes tuition, lodging, meals and transportation during the two weeks of the Summer School. Once the applicants are accepted, the payment procedure will be facilitated (the actual cost of this course is 2500 euros, but, thanks to Richard H. Driehaus and Kalam, the participation fee is only 410 euros).
