Survey on the status of traditional crafts

Mad’in Europe and Future for Religious Heritage (FRH) have organized a European-wide survey with the aim of advancing towards a better understanding of traditional craftsmanship.

The survey is aimed at 1) craftspeople specializing in cultural heritage conservation; 2) architects, cultural heritage conservators or owners of heritage buildings; and 3) schools and craft training centers.

Philippe Rotthier European Architecture Prize

The call for entries for the new edition of the Philippe Rotthier European Architecture Prize is open until April 30, 2024. The theme of this year’s edition is “Vernacular Architecture”. The prize will award up to 40,000 euros in prize money.

This year’s edition is being organized by La Table Ronde de l’Architecture.

They are looking for projects that make maximum possible use of local materials, as well as traditional building methods and techniques. Also that take into account local architecture and that are well integrated into their built and natural environments.

Carlos Muñoz de Pablos, Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts

The Council of Ministers has awarded the Gold Medals for Merit in Fine Arts for the year 2023 to 37 cultural personalities and institutions. Among the awardees is the restorer and master stained glass artist Carlos Muñoz de Pablos.

Among the works Muñoz de Pablos has done -many of them with the collaboration of his two sons, also master stained glass artists- we can highlight the restoration of the windows of the Cathedral of Segovia, the Cathedral of Avila, the Bank of Spain, the Palace of the Congress of Deputies, the Senate Palace and San Pietro in Montorio, in Rome, as well as the design of windows for buildings such as the Alcazar of Segovia and the Cathedral of Colón and the Church of La Merced, both in Panama.
