The Summer School is taking place in the Marv\u00e3o area, in the Alto Alentejo Portuguese region, in\u00a0July 16th \u2013 29th.<\/strong>\u00a0The application and registration proccess is already open.<\/p>\n

Local traditional urbanism, architecture and building details will be studied in order to create a preservation and new traditional building manual for the area and, based on it, to design upgrade proposals for different public places of the town. Participants will have the chance to share ideas and work together with faculty and students from many nationalities in order to develop those proposals. Experts in local vernacular architecture and building techniques will be lecturing on diverse related topics. There will be trips around this region and some workshops and building sites will be visited too.<\/p>\n

The registration fee is\u00a0320 euros.<\/strong>\u00a0This fee includes tuition, accommodation, meals and transportation during the two weeks of the Summer School (departure from Madrid or Lisbon also). Those interested in participating must\u00a0send an email before\u00a0 April 21st to:\u00a0premiorafaelmanzano@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0We are developing a selection process among all candidates and several places will be reserved for the students of the participating universities.<\/p>\n

The Summer School is organized by INTBAU and the Rafael Manzano Prize for New Traditional Architecture, thanks to the support of the Richard H. Driehaus Charitable Lead Trust (through a contribution to the Chicago Community Trust for the Richard H. Driehaus Charitable Fund), the Funda\u00e7ao Serra Henriques and Kalam, and the collaboration of the Escola Superior Gallaecia, the Instituto Universit\u00e1rio de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL) and the Universidade de \u00c9vora (Portugal), the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas (Philippines), the School of Architecture of the Judson University, the School of Architecture of the University of Miami and the School of Architecture of the University of Notre Dame (USA), the Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio, the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha and the Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid (Spain), the Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n de Arquitectura Tradicional (CIAT-UPM), the C\u00e2mara Municipal de Marv\u00e3o, the Junta de Freguesia de Beir\u00e3 and A Anta Association.<\/p>\n
