Driehaus, called by the Spanish Ministry of Development, aimed at recovering the Spanish architectural heritage. The three locations selected during the first phase of the Competition were B\u00e9jar, Olite and Guadix.<\/p>\n<p>In this second phase, 56 national and international architecture firms submitted their design proposals to respond to the needs of the municipalities. Each of the selected projects will be awarded 12,000 \u20ac.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_row et_pb_row_1  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et_block_row\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_column_4_4 et_pb_column et_pb_column_1  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et-last-child et_block_column\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_module et_d4_element et_pb_text et_pb_text_1  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h3><em>B\u00e9jar in front of the mirror (B\u00e9jar ante el espejo)<\/em><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.driehauscompetition.com\/project\/primer-premio-bejar\/\">\u2018B\u00e9jar ante el espejo\u2019<\/a> is the title of the winning project of architects <strong>Abelardo Linares and Elena Jim\u00e9nez<\/strong>. The project proposes opening up the public spaces surrounding the Church of Santa Mar\u00eda, the Jewish Museum and several buildings from the golden age of the textile industry, toward the spectacular views of the Cuerpo de Hombre river valley. Additionally, it connects the existing urban fabric in an attempt to reactivate the environment; the project includes the construction of a new residence around a patio surrounded by galleries inspired by the local tradition.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_row et_pb_row_2  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et_block_row\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_column_4_4 et_pb_column et_pb_column_2  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et-last-child et_block_column\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_module et_d4_element et_pb_text et_pb_text_2  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p>In turn, the Olite project seeks to recover the area extending from the Palace and the Church of Santa Mar\u00eda to the Church of San Pedro. The project selected is called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.driehauscompetition.com\/project\/primer-premio-olite\/\">\u2018Cerquo\u2019<\/a>, from architects Xavier and <strong>Luc\u00eda Espin\u00f3s Bermejo, Estefan\u00eda Fern\u00e1ndez-Cid and Rodrigo Toro<\/strong>. Their project for the new building at Plaza del Fosal incorporates the typical construction characteristics of the area, without detracting from the prominence of the adjacent temple. The same virtues are found in the building proposed for the R\u00faa Villavieja.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"et_pb_module et_d4_element et_pb_text et_pb_text_3  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p>Due to the high quality of the rest of the proposals, the jury has awarded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.driehauscompetition.com\/en\/winners\/\">honorable mentions<\/a>, endowed with 2,000\u20ac, to six projects that contribute to the revitalization of these two towns.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_row et_pb_row_3  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et_block_row\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_column_4_4 et_pb_column et_pb_column_3  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et-last-child et_block_column\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_module et_d4_element et_pb_text et_pb_text_4  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h3>Guadix<\/h3>\n<p>In the case of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.driehauscompetition.com\/emplazamientos\/guadix\/\"> Guadix,<\/a> the plan was to recover and improve the ensemble that crowns its historical center, around the Alcazaba, the old citadel. However, the jury considered that none of the proposals fulfilled all the objectives and it decided unanimously not to award the competition for this location and to include it in the call for next year.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_row et_pb_row_4  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et_block_row\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_column_4_4 et_pb_column et_pb_column_4  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et-last-child et_block_column\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_module et_d4_element et_pb_text et_pb_text_5  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.driehauscompetition.com\/jurado\/\">The Jury<\/a>, composed of representatives from the Spanish Ministry of Development, Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the Consejo Superior de Arquitectos de Espa\u00f1a, INTBAU (International Network for Traditional Building), the mayors of the three towns, and the Rafael Manzano Prize, emphasized the quality and feasibility of the projects submitted.
