Workshop in the Oasis of M’hamid, Morocco<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Due to the success of the last workshop organised in Morocco by Terrachidia, an additional workshop has been organised for September 12-19, 2022.<\/p>\n

It will focus on the restoration and documentation of the earthen architectural heritage.<\/p>\n

Hands-on workshops organised by the Fuset Association for Rural Heritage<\/strong><\/h6>\n

The Fuset Association for Rural Heritage has organised a workshop to recover the cobblestone floors of Used (Zaragoza). The workshop will be delivered by Amara Carvajal, member of the Spanish Network of Traditional Building Crafts Masters and expert in stone paving. Amara has dedicated a large part of her career to the organisation of workshops to disseminate this technique.<\/p>\n

This cobblestone workshop is part of the 1st “Fuset” School of Traditional Building Techniques, which includes three monographic courses on cobblestone floors, lime mortar and plaster work.<\/p>\n

Workshop “Designing and building in Burkina Faso: a library for the Baasneere school”<\/strong><\/h6>\n

This workshop, organised by the \u201cEarthen architectures, constructive cultures and sustainable development\u201d UNESCO Chair, will take place from July 4 to 8, 2022 at the ETSAV (Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e9ncia), in collaboration with the association Algemes\u00ed Solidari and its counterpart A3B.<\/p>\n

The workshop will aim to design proposals for a library. This is the last phase of the project L’Escola de Baasneere.<\/p>\n

New edition of the Homo Faber craft courses<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Homo Faber has published a new season of craft courses. These will take place in Mansilla de las Mulas, in the province of Le\u00f3n, and many of them will be delivered by master craftspeople who are members of the Spanish Network of Traditional Building Crafts Masters or who have been awarded in recent years with the Richard H. Driehaus Building Arts Awards.<\/p>\n

The courses will cover lime stucco, sgraffito stucco, tadelakt, lime and plaster\u00a0trabadillos<\/em>, mural painting, earthen cladding, timbrel vaults, thatched roofs and carpentry, among other crafts.<\/p>\n

Building a traditional Arab pigeon tower<\/strong><\/h6>\n

From June 26 to July 2, the course “Building an Arab Pigeon Tower” will take place at Domaine de Boisbuchet, France.<\/p>\n

During the workshop, a pigeon tower will be built following examples from Siwa, a salt lake district in the western part of Egypt, bordering Libya. The course will involve working with clay, bricks, pots and wooden beams, guided by the Siwani craftsmen, who through generations continue this tradition of vernacular architecture.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1986, Domaine de Boisbuchet is an international center for design and architecture, which has been organizing annual courses for more than thirty years. The campus, in the southwest of France, covers 150 hectares and consists of an architectural park with a large number of historic and contemporary buildings and pavilions, all examples of various materials and construction techniques.<\/p>\n

New season of courses at the Centro de Oficios of Le\u00f3n<\/strong><\/h6>\n

The Centro de Oficios y Artes Pl\u00e1sticas of Le\u00f3n has organized a new edition of its practical summer courses on traditional crafts.<\/p>\n

The courses will be held from July 4 to August 5, 2022 and each of them will have a duration of 40 hours.<\/p>\n

The registration fee for each course is 280 euros and includes materials and tools, participation in the organized activities and a diploma of attendance issued by the City Council of Le\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

The registration period will open on May 3, until all places are filled.<\/p>\n

This hands-on course on the use of traditional building materials and methods, organised by the Santa Mar\u00eda de Albarrac\u00edn Foundation, will take place from June 13 to 17.<\/p>\n

It will be led by Manuel Gil Ortiz, director of the Museo de la Cal in Mor\u00f3n, and Luis Prieto Prieto, master painter and stucco master and member of INTBAU Spain and the Spanish Network of Traditional Building Crafts Masters.<\/p>\n

The CERCAA (Centro Educativo para la Regeneraci\u00f3n de la Construcci\u00f3n Artesanal) has organised this workshop on timbrel vaults, which will be delivered by the master mason Salvador Gomis, a member of the Spanish Network of Traditional Building Masters. The workshop will take place between June 29th and July 3rd.<\/p>\n

Course on stone carving and forging of tools<\/strong><\/h6>\n

This course will take place from July 11 to 15 at the Escuela de Herreros de Ram\u00f3n Recuero, who is a member of the Spanish Network of Traditional Building Crafts Masters. It will be delivered by the sculptor Rafael Fern\u00e1ndez Mangado and the blacksmith Pablo Avellaneda Fern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>\n

The course will combine learning the techniques of stone carving with the forging and heat treatment of the stonemason’s own tools.<\/p>\n

Structural carpentry workshop<\/strong><\/h6>\n

The Instituto Andaluz del Patrimonio Hist\u00f3rico and the Escuela de Bioconstrucci\u00f3n Los Guindales have organised this workshop which will take place between November 14 and 18, 2022, in Seville.<\/p>\n

The course will be led by Loris Carboni, a master carpenter specialising in structural carpentry, and Javier de Mingo Garc\u00eda, an architect and professor at the Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid, as well as one of the world’s leading specialists in structural carpentry.<\/p>\n

Convents and Monasteries in the Historic City: Management and Intervention in Complex Heritage Sites<\/strong><\/h6>\n

This course will take place on June 13 and 14 in the Aula de cine of the School of Architecture of Toledo. It will be directed by Ignacio Gonz\u00e1lez-Varas Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez, professor at the University of Castilla-La Mancha and member of INTBAU Spain.<\/p>\n

The convents and monasteries present in historic cities are centres of spirituality and resources of great cultural relevance. The management of these ensembles is highly complex due to their character as “inner cities”. This course discusses their present and future and provides tools for intervention in these complex heritage sites.<\/p>\n
